blueEX Tracking Glossary: Courier Terms Explained

Plain meanings for the short words you see on a blueEX tracking page, apart from the statuses themselves.

Consignment Number

The code our tracker searches with. It is given when the parcel is booked and printed under the barcode on your receipt or flyer. blueEX’s store tools create 10-digit numbers.

Manifest

The booking record a seller creates before handing over the parcel. That is why a new tracking number may show no scans for a while.

Linehaul

The trip between cities by truck. There are no scans on the way; they start again when the truck reaches the next hub.

Origin / Destination Hub

The sorting centres at each end of the trip. A scan here shows the parcel has really reached that city.

Out for Delivery

A rider has your parcel for today’s deliveries. It is not a set time, just a sign that delivery is planned for today. blueEX delivers 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Saturday.

Return to Origin (RTO)

Return to Origin: if delivery fails twice, the parcel goes back to the seller instead of being tried again and again.

Cash on Delivery (COD)

Cash on delivery: the buyer pays at the door instead of online. Have the right amount ready.

Exception

A status for anything that stopped a normal delivery, such as a phone that was not answered, a wrong address or a refused parcel. It usually needs a follow-up call, not just waiting.

Proof of Delivery

The signature, photo or name recorded at handover. Check this first if tracking says Delivered but the parcel did not arrive.
